As the sun poured through our kitchen window this morning and I lazily cracked eggs for breakfast, my husband Danny blurted out a statement that he obviously needed to get off his chest:
“You know, if I were in charge of the kitchen, there would be more coffee cake.”
His comment both amused and surprised me. For starters, he has no misconceptions about the kitchen’s domain and second, he almost never complains, so his vocalizing a desire for coffee cake was not one to ignore.
Anyway, it made me think of a coffee cake I saw this week on Shaina’s blog, and so of course that recipe is included in my weekend links, along with plenty more ‘Good Things’…

I love this new blog. I need so much help in the kitchen learning to be more organized about menu planning and healthy food. Will you make a post about what you should keep in your pantry and basic kitchen tools sometime?
Thanks for the inspiration!

Oh man, those biscuits were awesome… maybe I’ll make them again to bring to a brunch on Sunday? Such a great way to use some of that ridiculous amount of jam I made last summer
Can’t believe the timing of your article! I just checked out Shaina’s Kuglehoph and plan to make one very soon. I even left a comment. However THIS WEEKEND I made a buttermilk coffee cake from http://www.cooks.com called Green Heron Inn Buttermilk Coffee Cake and it was so easy and very delicious. It must be coffee cake season!
