Weekend Links and 20 Canadian Instagramers Who Make Me Hungry
This week was rather extraordinary, in the very literal sense of the word; there were a handful of rare, and very special events.
On Sunday we met our newest nephew and there is nothing so wonderful as holding a seven-pound newborn bundle. Then Spring finally got her act together and bestowed us with a week of glorious warm weather which made the grass turn a pale shade of green and the wild ramps grow three inches in the back forest.
I even spotted rhubarb buds in the garden. It’s starting!
On Wednesday I was blown away to find I was shortlisted for a Canadian writing award. Remember this post about returning home? Well, it may very well earn me a chance to fly back home to BC and attend an esteemed food and wine writers workshop in the fall. Incredible. My work is among four other outstanding stories that paint the Canadian food scene from coast to coast, and all are well worth a read.
In other news, Food52 loved my Tangy Quinoa Spring Salad Cups, Publisher’s Weekly gave a shoutout to my cookbook (!), and RecipeGeek feature a review with a recipe and a giveaway. Oh, HuffPost Living thinks you should eat my Asparagus Goat Cheese Galette. It is pretty fabulous. Thanks, folks!

- This Rustic Three Cheese Lasagna looks divine and is made by my newest food blogger crush: Vikalinka. Julia is a Russian-born Canadian living in London (incidentally, my newest city crush as well), who cooks for an adorable family and blogs her journey. I love it all.
- A yogourt breakfast bowl with wild berry pomegranate syrup from Janice look too good to be true (pictured below). I think I’ll plan to have some of that lovely syrup prepped and in the fridge for Mother’s Day morning should anyone wish to bring me breakfast in bed. Good plan, right?
Finally, I found myself on a list this week, curated by HuffPost Living: 20 Canadian Instagrammers Who’ll Make You Hungry.
These lists are fun. Sometimes I’m on them and other times I’m not, and it’s fine either way, because in the end it is just one person’s opinion, and that’s what you have to remember.
So for some additional fun, I’m going to give you one more opinion: mine! Here another whole batch of Canadian foodies I love to follow on Instagram. On purpose, I’ve included folks who were not on the HuffPost list (although they are awesome, too!) so you could discover a few new names. And I’m certain you will. O-kay! In no particular order….
