Giveaway: Scanpan CTX 5-Piece Cookware Set from Sur la Table

This giveaway has ended. Check back on Saturday, December 4 for the winner!

Welcome to Simple Living Media’s Home for the Holidays! We’ve got 25 giveaways across the entire network this week to give you plenty of chances to win a great gift, just in time for the holidays.

To kick off our week of giveaways, I’m so excited to be giving away one of my absolute favorite kitchen essentials:a Scanpan® CTX 5-Piece Cookware Set from Sur la Table!

The ground-breaking Scanpan CTX cookware is made of 100-percent recycled aluminum, is safe for induction ranges, the oven, the dishwasher, and perhaps best of all, is PFOA-free (absence of Teflon).

Scanpan’s safe coating

It took some time, but my husband finally allowed me to throw out the non-stick pan that he contributed to our kitchen when we married. The thing was warped beyond belief, scratched, and – it’s biggest flaw – was Teflon coated.

After a few years without a nonstick pan, you can imagine I was very happy to discover Scanpan, with its ultra-durable nonstick surfaces that are safe for metal utensils and PFOA-free. My hubby was  thrilled and resumed his role as short-order egg cook on weekend mornings.

Made in Denmark, Scanpan is currently the only nonstick cookware that advertises its surface as safe for use with metal utensils. It is made of 7 layers of durable aluminum and stainless steel (with a lifetime warranty) and its patented ceramic titanium surface is virtually indestructible.

Our old pan seemed to have a thin coating of Teflon, which was badly scratched in places and was flaking off – which means we ate Teflon from time-to-time. No matter how minute the dose, eating Teflon can’t be good for you.

Scanpan allows browning of food

Health issues aside, one of my beefs with nonstick pans has been the absence of browning during cooking. When food browns, it means the natural sugars caramelize and the flavor is intensified.

The CTX Scanpan has a cooking surface that still allows browning and searing. I’ve tested this many times with my pans, and from scallops to steaks, a great sear is possible!

Plus you can crank up the heat with out worrying about the pan warping.

The CTX cookware lids are made of satin polished stainless steel with a glass center, (convenient to view the food without having to lift the lid) and the handles are of cast stainless steel, and stay cool longer. Did I mention everything is oven safe? Yes, even those glass lids.

Everyone is going to like this last part: these are the easiest pans to clean I have ever used. Ever. Nothing more than a rinse and a wipe is ever needed to clean them, no matter what has been cooked on them or how long they have sat out unwashed (*blush*).

That feature alone has helped simplify this mama’s life. Scanpan is also dishwasher safe, should a swish and a wipe be too much work!

You can tell that this pan is built to last for generations. With Scanpan’s lifetime warranty,  it makes perfect sense to invest in quality cookware.

Sur la Table, one of my favorite online kitchen stores, carries a wonderful selection of Scanpan cookware and often has super sales. Today’s deal, though, has to be my favorite…
